Background
The HBCU All-Star Battle of the Bands was created in 2002 to showcase the talents of the nation’s top Historically Black Colleges and Universities to entertain their audiences, raise awareness, and support the music community with scholarships.

I was commissioned via 4THPARK to help redesign the branding.

The Challenge
4THPARK reached out to with this amazing opportunity to redesign the branding for HBCU All-Star Battle of the Bands. They had been on a 2-year hiatus due to COVID and HBCU All-Star wanted this rebrand to be start of a new era.
The Process
The goal was to create a mark that incorporated a star but also try to include an element of Atlanta in some sort of way. 
Sketches
Final Logo
The client decided to pick the option without the element of Atlanta featured because of the potential of a location change in the future.
Color Palette
The HBCU All-Star committee wanted to keep the black and gold colors for the branding.
Typography
Industry Black serves as the main typeface for body copy for the HBCU All-Star Brand.
Pure Heart serves as the display typeface for the website and social media branding.
Race Sport is the main typeface for the HBCU All-Star Battle of the Brands logo.
